There are only 12 seats up for grabs in the Senate, but there are 62 contending candidates. As the May 2019 election is quickly approaching, how can you ensure that you are voting the right people for public office? Are we voting based on track record and qualifications? Or are we voting based on popularity, charisma, or just plain name recall?
To vote wisely, VoteUP is bringing the senatorial online ballot to you, made simpler and better by adding candidate profiles.
VoteUP collected all available online information about each candidate and created a brief backgrounder as guide to online poll voters. The app only included important details voters should know about. A senatorial candidate profile provides the ballot name, political party affiliation, age, birthplace or residence, job or occupation, educational attainment, net worth, known or popular to the public as, platform or promises, public service accomplishments, and controversies hounding the candidate's campaign.
To vote, simply open the app and go to the list of senatorial candidates. Tap the candidate image to read about their short profile, and tap the check box to vote. The VoteUP homepage features a leaderboard that ranks the candidates based on the number of votes. You can watch live online election results on the app homepage. You may leave a comment to show your support or disapproval of a candidate, but keep it brief, relevant, and polite. VoteUp allows you to share the profile of your favorite senatorial candidate on your social media accounts.
Like the Comelec-administered elections, your identity stays anonymous when you cast your vote.
